About the Item
Rare and striking lobster sculpture in silvered pewter by renowned Italian designer Mauro Manetti. Dating from the 1950s-1960s, this exceptional piece retains its original bright silver finish and both of its long, intact antennae.
Stamped on the underside with the classic “M.M. Mauro Manetti, Italy, Firenze, Peltro”.
A rare collector’s item—both decorative and emblematic of postwar Italian design. Ideal as a statement piece on a coffee table, shelf, or in a cabinet of curiosities.
Mauro Manetti is one of the most influential Italian designers of his generation, known for his innovative and creative approach.
Throughout his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 and 1994. His creations are now exhibited in major international museums, including the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
