About the Item
A delightful mid-century Russian porcelain figure of a lying hound with hand-painted detail by Lomonosov and dating from the 1950/1960’s. The well modelled figure of a large hound has a white unglazed foot and lies with his rear paws folded to one side, the tail resting on paws and with his head held up with ears raised and his front paws stretched out in front. The dog is well detailed and proportioned and has nicely defined facial details with black painted eyes and with grey patch work coloring on a white glazed ground. The figure has blue printed Lomonosov marks on the base.
Provenance: from a collection of dog figures acquired through the UK Art Market.
In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.

An exceptional antique, probably English, white glazed porcelain figure of a recumbent hound dating from the early 19th century. The figure is finely hand crafted with wonderful detail with the hound resting its head on its outstretched front paws and wearing a collar around its neck and with its tail resting against its back leg. The modelling is exceptional capturing the hounds features, rib cage and muscle tones. The hound has an unglazed flat base and is not marked.
