'MANDRILLE' Sculpture by Pierre Christophe, known as Christophe (Seine-Saint-Denis, 1880 – Bordeaux, 1971), France, circa 1920s. The bronze sculpture features a dark patina and represents a mandrill in Christophe’s distinctive stylised and dynamic form. The work reflects the artist’s refined mastery of animal subjects, typical of the French Art Deco period. Signed “Christophe” on the base and numbered n°2, this piece demonstrates both sculptural precision and expressive vitality. Christophe, a noted sculptor of the interwar years, is renowned for his depictions of animals imbued with elegance and character. Dimensions: 19 x 20.5 x 8 cm (H).
