About the Item
Markku Salo is a Finnish designer and glass artist.
After working for four years as an industrial designer at the electronics company Salora in 1979, he applied for a job advertisement at Nuutajarvi in 1983 and was hired as a glass designer.
Although glass was a new material for him, he designed many products, making use of the serial production experience he had gained in his previous job.
In 1987, he held his first solo exhibition and expanded his activities to include installations and unique pieces.
He has also worked as a freelance designer for a number of manufacturers since his student days and established his own company in 1991, where he continues to be active.
His style is post-modern, and his unique designs, especially those combining glass and metal, are synonymous with him.
This bull is one of a series of animal objects made from sheet metal that was presented at the Aarikka 40th anniversary exhibition in 1994.
