About the Item
Monumental Chinese Qing style foo dog or foo lion temple sculpture intricately hand-crafted from wood. The large statue has an aged, weathered patina with a bleached finish. Originally the sculpture had a polychrome red finish that has faded away leaving only traces of light red pigments. Very heavy and solid with old repairs and age cracks in finish. Beautifully carved details such as scrolls and snail curls on the head. The foo dog has been a fixture in artist Ira Yeager's (American 19380-2022) art gallery recently.
