EARLY 1900 signed: GIBARDIEU on plinth, brown patinated bronze, replica of the Romanesque copy of the famous 2nd century AD Hellenistic marble sculpture of Aristeas and Papias of Aphrodisias, found in 1736 at the Villa Hadriana near Tivoli, now on display at the Capitoline Museum in Rome, on an elongated stepped and fluted plinth with serrated and rounded sides, traces of age, height 150 cm.
