About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown sky blue and gold flecks Italian art glass pheasant bird sculpture. The piece is documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-60s. The bird was created with a layer of solid blue glass on the interior, then layer with gold and clear bubble in between, in the ”Bullicante” technique to the body. It is profusely covered in gold leaf throughout, specially the base. The beak and crest also have gold. It has an unusual pose, with tail up and looking back, like preening its tail. Would make a great display piece on any desk, coffee table or credenza. You will be able to showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Mid-century era. Measures: 9 3/8” tall x 6” long x 2 7/8” wide.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
