About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso aqua blue and gold flecks Italian art glass bird figurines paperweight sculpture. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini. They look to be a pair of courting birds, beautifully sculpted and attached to a thick glass base. Their wings are covered in gold leaf, and the blue coloration fades to clear towards the bird tails. Would be a great piece for any desk, vanity or curio cabinet. Mid-century era. Measures 6" across the end of the wings x 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" wide.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
