About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown white and gold flecks Italian art glass duck sculpture. The piece is created in the Pulegoso technique, with thousands of bubbles within the piece, creating the white color. This technique was used by many of the great Murano glass houses. This piece is signed underneath "Gabbiani". I am not familiar with this artist, but with a few searches, I found that the company began in 1964. The design resembles pieces made by the Seguso Vetri d’Arte and designer Alfredo Barbini. The bird has black eyes, beak and collar. The entire piece is filled with heavy gold leaf. The body has a layer of glass over the gold, while the black accents have the gold right on top of the glass. Very unusual piece. Would make a great display piece on any coffee table, dresser or credenza. You will be able to showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Measures 10" long x 4 1/2" tall.
