About the Item

Amazing sculpture depicting a Pointer dog. Designed by German artist Wilhelm Zwick and executed by the German firm Kayserzinn. The condition of this sculpture is really good. Only a few minor marks and minor scratches. No other issues! Made in the 1920s in Kayserzinns special silvered white metal. Signed "W Zwick" and with the Kayser stamp to the underside. Length 52cm (20,5in). Wilhelm Zwick (1839–1916) was a German artist whose works have been featured in auctions and exhibitions. He is known for his sculptures, which often depict equestrian themes and animal figures. KAYSERZINN Kayserzinn was the trademark for art pewterware produced by J.P. Kayser Sohn, a German metalworking company based in Krefeld, Germany. The company operated between 1868 and 1930 and became renowned for its Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) designs. Kayserzinn pieces were celebrated for their high-quality craftsmanship and innovative use of pewter, which was alloyed with antimony to prevent tarnishing. The company produced a wide range of decorative items, including lamps, candlesticks, picture frames, vases, bowls, and tea sets. Many of these items featured intricate relief designs inspired by nature, such as floral motifs and animal figures. Kayserzinn's works were highly regarded and won gold medals at international exhibitions, including the 1900 Paris Exposition and the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Engelbert Kayser, who took over the artistic direction of the company in 1894, collaborated with prominent artists like Hugo Leven and Wilhelm Zwick to create unique designs. Kayserzinn pieces are now highly collectible and admired for their artistic and historical significance.
