Soft Cage is a sculptural piece designed in 2014 by multidisciplinary creator Gala Fernández and produced in Mexico. The work is made using a combination of wire and blown Murano glass, bringing together industrial linear structure and the fragile, luminous quality of handblown glass. The contrast between materials plays a central role in the piece. The wire structure defines a rigid framework, while the Murano glass introduces softness, transparency, and organic presence. This dialogue creates a tension between containment and delicacy, structure and vulnerability, suggested by the title itself. The glass elements function as focal points within the composition, drawing attention to the interaction between light, form, and material. Gala Fernández is a multidisciplinary creator from Madrid, based in Milan, whose practice spans art, design, curating, interior and product design, graphic design, and publishing. His work moves fluidly between artistic and industrial contexts, supported by experience in teaching and professional collaborations.
