Russian cast iron equestrian sculpture of a Cossack soldier Russian, 1872 Height 38cm, width 37cm, depth 14cm This fine Russian equestrian cast iron sculpture depicts a Cossack soldier on horseback. The soldier, garbed in a heavy overcoat, holds the reigns while lighting a pipe. His face is deftly rendered, and all his features are depicted with great naturalism. His horse stands with his rear legs parted on a naturalistic base, with his taut musculature cast and finished with great realism. The sculpture is stamped to the base with a signature and foundry mark.
