About the Item

A beautiful set of Oiva Toikka birds and two bottles. The set includes the Red Ibish by Oiva Toikka that was introduced in 2005 and was in production until 2014 and the Pheasant that was produced by Nuutajärvi from the 1980s, also the crow which was produced from 1982-1988. The birds are part of the Birds by Toikka series that further catapulted Toikka's name into international fame as one of the top glass designers. A large series of collectable birds that are highly sought after that make a great addition to or a starting point for any art glass lovers. All objects are signed except for the white bird as it seems to have a manufacturing "fault" which ads charm to it. (See photo). The measurements are of the Red Ibis. Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) was a Finnish master glass designer and ceramist, working for Arabia Oy and Nuutajärven Lasitehdas. Toikka produced some of the most iconic designs in Finnish glass history. He was known best for his variety of glass birds. His distinct style is very vibrant, colourful and playful. For his long standing career and efforts as a glass designer, he was recognized with the Pro- Finlandia Award, Kaj Franck- Award and the Prince Eugene- Medal. His works can be found in museums and private collections worldwide.
