About the Item
This handsome colorful Staffordshire zebra couple feature much detail with bold lines and subtle shading. The female is just a hair shorter than the male. Unmarked but definitely Staffordshire.
Most Victorian figures were designed to stand on a shelf or mantlepiece and are therefore only modelled and decorated where visible from the front and sides. These are known as flatbacks. These were shaped either by press molding or slip casting.
