About the Item

A charming and finely detailed true pair of German 19th century Sitzendorf Porcelain Parrots. Each wonderfully detailed and colorful parrot is perched on stunning foliate decorated tree stump. Each striking Parrot is gazing toward the other while displaying vivid colors, wonderful expressions and intricately detailed plumage. Sitzendorf Porcelain was founded in 1850 in Thuringia, Germany, and became known for its finely detailed figurines, lace-porcelain figures, and Rococo-revival decorative wares. Re-established after a fire in 1858, the factory continued production well into the 20th century, maintaining a reputation for romantic, highly ornate hand-finished porcelain.
