About the Item

An impressive and high quality Continental 19th century white Carrara marble, Sèvres Porcelain, Onyx, and Ormolu bust of Napoleon. This handsome and wonderfully detailed bust is raised on a stunning French 19th century Empire st. Sèvres Porcelain, Gilt, Onyx, and Ormolu pedestal. The beautiful pedestal is supported by a square stepped Onyx base with four square Ormolu supports. The bottom plinth has a beautiful circular Ormolu band with foliate designs. The shaft of the pedestal displays an array of gilt palmette designs with the letter 'N' flanked by berried laurel vines and an open wing crowned eagle above. The top capital has an Ormolu mottled socle with foliate designs and supports the Onyx top. The bust of Napoleon above is raised on its square base with a half round front displaying Napoleon I below an open winged Eagle. The Eagle is gripping a scroll with eternal flames to each side, while above is the bust of Napoleon wearing his traditional uniform and hat. Exceptionally executed with fine details throughout.
