Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid of Orléans, He is a French historical and religious figure of great importance. Born in 1412, during the Hundred Years' War, Joan claimed to have received a divine mission to liberate France from English occupation and restore the throne of France to Charles VII.
With extraordinary determination and courage, Joan led the French army in a series of decisive victories, culminating in the coronation of Charles VII at Reims in 1429. However, his fortunes changed in 1430, when she was captured by the English and tried for heresy. Sentenced to the stake, Joan was burned alive in Rouen in 1431.
Despite his tragic end, Joan of Arc became a symbol of French resistance and patriotism. Its story has been the subject of numerous literary works, artistic and cinematographic. In 1456, was rehabilitated by the Church and, in 1920,she was canonized as a saint.
