About the Item

A well-modelled bronze bust depicting a young woman wearing a traditional regional bonnet and layered dress, rendered with finely detailed textures throughout the fabric and headwear. The sitter’s serene expression and smooth facial modelling contrast attractively with the more tactile, loosely worked drapery. She wears a multi-strand beaded necklace, adding to the sculptural richness of the composition. The piece is cast in a warm, even medium-brown patination, retaining a pleasing surface with subtle highlights. Presented on its original shaped bronze socle with moulded edge. The reverse bears the cast signature H. Müller. Circa 1900 Austria Works by sculptors signing H. Müller were typically produced in Germany or Austria during the late 19th to early 20th century. This example shows the high-quality casting and sensitive portrait character associated with better foundry production of the period. Dimensions Of Base Of Bust: W: 30.2 cm ; D: 11.2 cm
