This sculpted head of Apollo is directly inspired by the famous Head of Benevento, preserved at the Louvre Museum. Discovered in Herculaneum and created during the Greco-Roman period, this reproduction reinterprets an artistic tradition where idealization and naturalism meet. In Antiquity, the gaze of statues was a true center of expression: the eyes, often inlaid with glass paste, stone, or ivory, captured the light and brought the face to life. Over the centuries, these delicate details have almost always disappeared, leaving the statues with a vacant stare. Our reproduction faithfully honors this tradition by preserving inlaid eyes, thus offering a strikingly human attitude and exceptional realism.
