About the Item

A very rare piece of 19th C. sculpture , a carved marble bust and pedestal, " Pharaoh's Daughter", late 19th C.. by James Adams- Acton. English, born 1834. This amazingly beautiful white marble bust depicts a very regal and handsomely beautiful woman wearing a snake headdress upon long flowing hair , large loop earrings and a large double strand beaded necklace. The bust leads down to a tapered square section base which is carved to the lower front with a beautiful scene depicting the discovery of Moses. The bust sits upon a most beautiful Breche d' Alep marble tapered square section pedestal. Breche d'Alep marble is one which means it's formed with large fragments of different colored minerals against a softer base. It is known for its distinctive look with large fragments in various colors against a yellowish ground. The fragments have a range of coloring that make up a visually striking pattern. The measurements listed earlier are for the bust and pedestal together. Separate measurements are: The Bust measures: 27"ht., x 13 3/4" W.. x 10" D. Pedestal:; 40" Ht. x 13 1/2" W. x 11" d. An Arts and Crafts period wicker library / Lamp table C. 1910 from a Rhode Island estate, These tables are a close woven reed done in a turquoise finish with black, yellow and reddish trim colors with the table top done in a very handsome quarter sawn oak surface. The table is beautifully designed with a quarter sawn oak table top surrounded by black braiding above a turquoise finished table skirt with a reddish bottom border trim. This table top sits upon beautifully skirted double legs on each corner which are joined together by a major decorative x criss crossed shaped woven and paint decorated support system which includes an additional pair of mid table top supports. This table is not only absolutely beautiful in its styling but also in its engineering.
