About the Item

A superb French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze bust of Diana the Huntress, signed HOUDON and SUSSE Frères. The bust is raised by a circular base with a fine wrap around berried laurel band and fluted socle support. Above is the beautiful Diana draped in an elegant flowing garment with a fine strap across her chest. She looks to her right with her hair tied in an updo with her symbolic crescent moon in her hair. All original rich and warm patina throughout.
