About the Item

A wonderful and richly detailed French 19th century Neo-Classical st. Bronze, Silvered Bronze, Ormolu and marble bust of Napoleon, signed by Émile Pinedo. This handsome bust is raised on a square Vert de Patricia marble plinth with an Ormolu bottom trim and upper Ormolu Rais de Coeur designed mottled mount. The square marble pedestal above displays the Napoleon 'N' below his signature emblem of the Eagle in Silvered Bronze. The patinated bronze bust showcases Napoleon dressed in his uniform and hat while wearing the pin of the Legion of Honour. Established by Napoleon in 1802, the Legion of Honour recognizes outstanding service to France, both military and civilian. Émile Pinedo (1840–1916) A master French sculptor and bronzier, Émile Pinedo inherited his craft from his father and quickly distinguished himself through technical skill and artistic vision. Making his debut at the Paris Salon of 1870, he established a reputation for finely detailed figures and mythological subjects executed with impeccable casting and patination.
