About the Item

An impressive and large scale Italian 19th century white Carrara marble, Alabaster and Vert de Patricia marble bust and pedestal. This truly wonderful bust of a beautiful woman, signed by Giovanni Sartorio, is raised on a palatial late 19th century Neo-Classical st. Alabaster and Vert de Patricia marble pedestal. The pedestal is supported on a Vert de Patricia square base with a mottled Alabaster plinth below the tapered marble column fitted with Alabaster inserts and top bands. The bust sits atop an inlaid Alabaster panel surrounded by a Vert de Patricia marble border. The stunning bust is raised on a circular socle pedestal which is tastefully designed with carved acanthus leaves and a unique technique called 'faux aging". This technique is used to give a piece an appearance of age and authenticity, making it look as though it has weathered the passage of time. The socle pedestal is where the signature of the very respected Giovanni Sartorio is visible. The beautiful woman is displayed with lovely flowing hair, a finely detailed necklace, earrings, and a head garment.
