About the Item

A stunning Italian late 19th early 20th century hand carved alabaster bust sculpture depicting a young baby girl cradling a dove. The girl wearing a lace bonnet her hair tied back and and curly locks over her shoulder. Her arms are gently crossed, cradling the bird in her hands, the lovely gaze turned downwards as if to look after the small animal. The little girl is wearing a sleeveless flowing simmer dress and a lace bonnet according to the fashion of the art nouveau period. The bust rests on a round molded plinth base made of the same material of the sculpted bust. The sculpture, boasts convenientsized and is carved in the round recalls the style of Cipriani and Bazzanti sculptors. This is an extremely pleasant decorative art piece. Both the workmanship and the position of the sculpted subject are delightful, the artist was able to communicate all the sweetness of the manners and gestures of the little girl. Good condition, original patina, minor wear throughout consistent with the material and age of the piece. Measures: Height - 35cm Width - 20cm Depth – 18cm Base diam. 10 cm
