About the Item

A handsome and most impressive Italian 19th century white Carrara, Sarrancolin marble, Patinated Bronze and Faux Painted marble bust of August Caesar. This exceptional bust is raised on a wonderful Italian 19th century Faux Painted Marble pedestal. The pedestal displays a mottled square base below the square tapered faux Rouge marble column. The column has a central recessed panel of boldly carved faux white Carrara marble foliage below swaging garlands joined at the center by a rosette. Above is the exquisite Sarrancolin and white Carrara marble bust of Augustus Caesar showcasing him in his intricately detailed celebratory armor. A Patinated Bronze lion head and fibula accent his chest and left shoulder, while handsome lion heads rest atop his shoulders.
