Hand carved Kifwebe mask from the Songye People, a Bantu ethnic group from the central Democratic Republic of Congo. Typical Kifwebe masks have a strong sculptural large headdress embellishment and a long protruding mouth. The picker that acquired this mask has many years in the field and only deals with tribes and families directly. Most Africa masks were made for the tourist market, while this example was used directly by the tribe. This piece has at least 50+ of age to it and is not contemporary. Presented on museum stand.
