George, Raku Fired Modern White Ceramic Bust of Male Head by Pavel Amromin
Located in Chicago, IL
This is a white glazed and black clay raku fired ceramic bust. Though modern, this sculpture references Classical Greek and Roman antiquities. A subtle red glaze is used on the lips and the artist has purposefully and mysteriously left a portion around the neck between the head and the chest free of glaze, exposing the black clay beneath. The cracking on the surface is a result of the raku firing process and intended to be there. Pavel Amromin George, 2017 raku fired ceramic 17H x 15W x 9D in 43.18H x 38.10W x 22.86D cm Pavel G. Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture Grimilde Head by Vanessa Semaino
Located in Milan, IT
The “Surolù” art works - this is artistic identity chosen by Vanessa Semaino - arise from the artist 's need to represent women’s condition today, particularly in their emotional states that confer their unique identities. These precious ceramic sculptures, entirely handcrafted and decorated, represent female Moor’s heads. They were conceived as an expression of an introspective journey that relates Vanessa’s Sicilian origins and to her professional experience in the fashion stylistic field. The artist introduces, for the first time, the repeated use of sociological themes of current relevance through a visually immediate language, represented in her art works with a contemporary pop aesthetic. “Grimilde” is an artwork that addresses the dilemma of envy within the context of the seven deadly sins, through a representation that merges the wicked characters from fairy tales into a single figure. In it, there are recognizable references to Grimhilde, the witch from “Snow White”, the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland,” and Cruella De Vil, all aimed at portraying envy in a world dominated by social media and the constant quest for approval and affirmation. The artwork is named after the evil queen from Snow White, and her figure is made evident by the turban that frames the face, emphasizing its features and wrinkled expression. The dress, with a black and white checkered pattern with red details, evokes that of the Queen of Hearts, as seen in the large red hearts decorating the crown, replacing the traditional acanthus leaves of typical Sicilian Moorish heads...

Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture Antonia Head by Vanessa Semaino
In contemporary art, the interpretation of the seven deadly sins offers artists an opportunity to explore the complex nuances of humanity. Antonia is a particularly intriguing and fascinating artwork that embodies the sin of gluttony in the reinterpretation of the seven deadly sins. The woman depicted is a clear homage to Holly, the famous character from the renowned film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” In the artwork, “Antonia,” a woman of great elegance, wears the iconic black dress with long gloves and a beautiful pearl necklace, which strongly allude to the film’s most iconic scene. The artist’s contemporary reinterpretation captures the image evoked by the celebratory reference to the scene from which the film took its name, “breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and returns it to us with an ironic twist that almost conceals the subtle social provocation conveyed by the use of gold chains and bracelets that serve as noodles in the artwork. In fact, Antonia is depicted avidly eating, but always with great elegance, using Japanese...
