17th-century Virgin and Child in the Dress and Peruvian Lead Figure This important collection of Hispanic sacred imagery consists of a monumental Virgin and Child in the Dress, Spanish School, 17th century, in carved and polychrome wood, with a clothed body, richly embroidered textiles, and a silver crown embossed with original period fluting; and an 18th-century Peruvian viceregal Child Jesus, cast in polychrome lead, with silver stems and a chiseled crown of high craftsmanship. Both pieces represent Marian and Christological devotion in the Hispanic world, uniting the peninsular Baroque tradition of the Golden Age with the uniqueness of Andean viceregal art. Its rarity, state of conservation, and the presence of original silver jewelry make this collection a work of great artistic, historical, and collector's value, worthy of museums or international collections of sacred art.
