About the Item

Stunning 18th Century marble bust of a young woman. This hand carved head has so much presence. There are so many details that make this stunning. Starting with the tendrils of her hair at the nape of her neck and the up-do makes this so touchingly realistic. Her face has the presence of someone dearly admired and who has a fortitude of character that comes through her eyes. Her eyes are very detailed with a more realistic rendering of what reads as a pupil and iris. Set on a black modern metal base, it is secure and safe. The scale of this bust is very life like. Her nose, like most antique sculptures has suffered a break in the bridge of the nose making it flat. However there is enough of her nose, nostrils, overall shape that it feels intact.
