We are delighted to offer for sale is this very rare original 1950s handmade in England oversized Dunhill Aquarium table lighter I have another five of these at this size and one small on listed on my other items They are all exceptionally rare, each piece is a one-off handmade item that will never be replicated again, the condition report for each lighter is listed below however I have taken very detailed pictures for you. None of these lighters are in working order, all need fuel and possibly a flint, thereafter they will work perfectly. For international customers these lighters have to be posted by sea freight which is tracked and signed for but takes a little longer, they aren't allowed to be posted by air due to the risk of explosion with the pressure Ben Shillingford (1904-2000) worked for Dunhill in the 1950s and perfected the art of carving and painting lucite panels to resemble miniature aquariums, these panels were then applied to the lighter bodies in four sections. Upon his retirement, his workmanship could not be equalled, and the skills necessary to continue to manufacture the aquarium lighter couldn't be found, hence production ceased. Today these exquisite aquarium lighters have become highly prized, collected and revered throughout the world. I have left them all in original condition, unrestored just as you wish to find them This one has a rather lovely blue back color, the chrome work is in exquisite condition throughout, the paint looks stunning Dimensions: Height:- 7.5cm Width:- 10cm Depth:- 5cm There are multiple high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page A good looking and well-made piece, the condition is good for the period, structurally free from any damage This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
