About the Item
An organic, hand-carved wooden drum from West Africa, dating to the 1950–1960s. Crafted from solid wood, this piece carries both sculptural and functional qualities, blurring the line between instrument and decorative object. The surface is richly carved with figurative motifs of people and trees, imbuing it with narrative character and cultural resonance.
The drum retains its original drumhead, traditionally made from stretched animal skin, secured across the top to create a resonant surface for playing. The wood has developed a deep, dark brown patina over time, highlighting its age and authenticity.
This modern object will fit in many types of home decors. Perfectly suited for an Antique, Wabi Sabi, Scandinavian or an Art Deco interior style.
