About the Item

A fine antique 18th German porcelain figurine. By the Royal Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. Model Number 12. Depicting a Trumpeter from the 'Gallant Orchestra' series created by Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775) and Friedrich Elias Meyer (1723-1785). The figurine in pink coat and white sash, black boots, and tricorn hat holding a trumpet or bugle aloft and playing. Originally designed by Friedrich Elias Meyer ca. 1757, this model dates to the 18th century. Marked with an underglaze blue crossed swords factory mark to the reverse and an obscured mark to the base. Simply a wonderful Meissen figurine! Date: 18th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition Condition Details: With repairs and overpaint noted (but not limited) to the plinth, boots, sash, trumpet, hand and hat. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some fritting and small chips throughout, some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Marked with an underglaze blue crossed swords factory mark to the reverse and an obscured mark to the base. Measurements: Height: ca. 5 5/8 in. Width: ca. 3 1/8 in. Depth: ca. 2 in.
