About the Item

Antique English Bisque Sculpture Signed J. Durham 1814-1877. Copland bisque sculpture titled, “Go to Sleep“ was made for the Art Union of London. It depicts a charming scene of a young girl with her dog. The figure was sculpted after the original by J. Durham, dated 1862 and also stamped with the maker's mark, “J. Durham Sc. 1862”. The English sculptor acquired fame and attracted a great deal of attention with the creation of the busts of Queen Victoria, Jenny Lind and numerous others. This is a beautiful work of art with the finest details. Condition is very good. Small chip under the base. Measurements: H 18” x W 9” x D 9” 10 LBS.
