About the Item

A fine antique French bronze sculpture. By Louis Lerolle (ca. 1868-1948) In gilt bronze with a darkened finish. In the form of a well-dressed woman with a large hat putting on a glove. Mounted on a red marble plinth. Marked for L. Lerolle to the corner of the bronze platform and with a small Lerolle foundry mark to the corner. Although we've found little on Louis Lerolle's career, we believe that he is the namesake of the founder of the Lerolle Fres. foundry in Paris (which cast this bronze). For reference, please see a related bronze in the archives of the Musee d'Orsay item no. 167623. Simply a wonderful rare Belle Époque sculpture! Date: Late 19th or Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Ebay Category: There is some light fritting to the marbles edges. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear throughout, some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected wear consistent with age. Maker: Louis Lerolle Marks: Marked L. Lerolle to the top of the plinth and stamped with a Lerolle Fres. foundry mark to the side. Measurements: Height: ca. 14 in. Width: ca. 6 3/4 in. Depth: ca. 5 3/8 in. Items purchased from this dealer must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 7 days.
