An exceptional and rare antique gilt bronze decorative vase by celebrated French sculptor Antonin Larroux, renowned for his expressive and naturalistic depictions of rural life in 19th-century France. Signed "A. Larroux" on the body, this remarkable piece reflects the artist’s characteristic sensitivity to both human form and narrative detail. Executed in richly toned gilt bronze, the vase is designed with an impressive sculptural composition featuring a group of three figures—a man and two women engaged in fieldwork, each portrayed in motion, absorbed in their respective labors. The naturalistic rendering of their garments, gestures, and facial expressions offers a poignant snapshot of everyday life, elevated through Larroux’s finely observed modeling and dynamic composition. At the top, the piece is fitted with a removable inner insert, allowing it to function both as a vessel or vase, and as a standalone sculptural centerpiece. The versatility of this work, combined with its superb craftsmanship and substantial scale, makes it an outstanding example of French decorative sculpture from the late 19th to early 20th century.
