About the Item

Pantalone (Pantaloon) is one of the most important characters in Commedia dell’arte -Italian Comedy which was very popular form of a professional theatre, started in Italy and rotated in Europe in 16th till 18th centuries. This exceptional Porcelain/ Ceramic 70 cm and ca 20 kg sculpture is a true master piece and belongs to an extremely rare museum collector item. The mastery and artistry of hand carving is outstanding. The Figure represents a character of Pantalone – holding a coin in his hand, destroyed clothes, big noticeable nose and eyebrows, -he is a greedy salesman and a merchant who was always begging for money and looked poorly even though he was a wealthy man in his times. This is an absolutely venetian one-of-a-kind masterpiece in its finest craftsmanship. It is extremely decorative and attractive and for sure the only one known of its kind size.
