About the Item

A bronze figurative sculpture depicting an abstract female body, upon a pink marble plinth, signed by artist, probably mid to late 20th century. This piece draws heavy inspiration from the later works of Henry Moore, whose abstracted bronze figures boasted a glorious and yet unsettling juxtaposition between form (the softness of smooth lines and curves) and material (the hardness of bronze), as well as ghostly bodies who are at once alienating and eerily, recognizably, familiar. Here this femme form appears exaggerated in a hyperbolic backbend; the cotton candy pink marble also adds a warm, feminine whimsy. The signature reads «  edition 2/10, Leonard Stantry. » In wonderful condition with minor signs of age. Pick up in central west Los Angeles or we ship worldwide.
