About the Item
Hand-Carved Bone Chinese Ancestral Figures, a Man and a Woman. The matched figures stand elegantly on a custom acrylic bases. They are rendered in a vertically elongated format, emphasizing dignity, hierarchy, and spiritual presence. Each figure is carved in high relief from light-toned bone material, with exceptional attention to facial expression, drapery, and symbolic ornamentation. Traces of original red and black staining remain visible within the recesses of the carving, enhancing depth and visual contrast. The female figure is depicted in flowing robes, her serene expression and composed posture conveying grace and refinement.
