About the Item

The Three Graces depicts the three daughters of Zeus, Euphrosyne, Aglaea and Thalia. Godesses of beauty, charm and joy. Shown standing close together, nude or as in this example lightly draped their bodies entwined in graceful embrace symbolising unity, love and harmony. Originating in classical Greek and Roman art the composition became beloved during the Renaissance and Neoclassical periods. Carved Marble, Early 20th Century. Condition commensurate with age. minor nibbles discolouration. Italy.
