About the Item

Superb and rare large sculpture of a woman's torso by Ermanno Nason in Murano glass. Italy, circa 1980s. Signed by the artist. Dimensions in cm ( H x L x l ) : 39 x 22 x 12.5 Secure shipping Ermanno Nason is a renowned Italian glass artist and master sculptor, born in Venice in 1978, internationally recognized for his dramatic, expressive works in Murano glass. Descended from one of Murano’s historic glassmaking families, Nason represents a new generation of masters who fuse centuries-old techniques with a powerful contemporary vision. Trained from an early age in the traditional furnaces of Murano, he mastered complex methods such as lampworking, incalmo, sommerso, and solid glass sculpting, developing a signature style characterized by dynamic animal forms, mythological figures, and symbolic creatures. His most iconic works often depict bats, horses, serpents, and hybrid beings, rendered in vibrant, crystalline colors with extreme technical precision. Unlike decorative Murano production, Nason’s work is deeply sculptural and conceptual, exploring themes of life, tension, energy, instinct, and transformation. Each piece is executed entirely by hand, often requiring extreme control of molten glass at high temperatures, making every sculpture a true unique work of art. Ermanno Nason has exhibited widely across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Asia, and his works are held in private collections, museums, and high-end contemporary design collections. He is also known for exclusive collaborations with galleries, luxury designers, and collectors seeking one-of-a-kind statement pieces. Today, Ermanno Nason is considered one of the most important contemporary sculptors working in Murano glass, bridging the heritage of Venetian craftsmanship with the language of modern art.
