About the Item

Ernst Barlach (1870–1938), "Das Wiedersehen" (Thomas und Christus), 1926. Black patina over cast plaster, signed “E. Barlach” and stamped “H. NOACK BERLIN,” with additional “© MPI” mark, attributed to Museum Pieces Inc., New York, circa 1960–1969 on the plinth and attached to a wood base. The original 1926 model was realized in bronze by the renowned Noack foundry. The elongated, statuesque figures of Christ and Thomas are interlocked in a physically distant yet heartfelt embrace; their strongly differentiated poses eloquently convey the poignancy of their encounter. This finely patinated reproduction preserves Barlach’s spiritual intensity and sculptural depth. Normal wear consistent with age; no breaks or repairs.
