About the Item

A charming and wonderfully decorative French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu statue of a cherub, signed Clodion. This wonderful statue is raised on a circular mottled Ormolu base with an elegant beaded trim below the ground designed patinated Bronze surface displaying the signature. Above is the young cherub standing proudly on one leg while wearing a tied garment around his shoulder. He is gazing in the distance while holding up and playing an Ormolu tambourine. All original patina and gilding throughout.
