About the Item

A high quality and most charming French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze, giltwood, and Rouge du Languedoc marble statue. The statue is raised by an elegant giltwood base with fine ball feet and a mottled border. Above the original Rouge du Languedoc marble support is the exceptional and richly chased patinated bronze statue with a mottled base and wonderfully executed ground like design. Charming and finely detailed Bacchanalian putti are dancing with cymbals and amphora in their hands beside a goat and with their friend fallen at their feet. All original patina and gilt throughout.
