About the Item
A superb French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu statue of a beautiful maiden, signed S. Kinsburger. The statue is raised by a wonderfully executed terrain designed base, where the lovely lady is standing. She is wearing a charming flowing dress and her hair is tied in an updo. The maiden has gathered up her skirt with her right hand and is picking a richly chased flower with her left.
Sylvain Kinsburger (1885-1935) was a renowned French sculptor. He was a student of Auguste Dumont and Gabriel-Jules Thomas at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Kinsburger exhibited a large figure entitled Le Courtisan at the Salon of 1911. A large plaster of his Dreaming acquired by the Salon of 1891 was formerly at the town hall of Villefranche-sur-Saône . A drawing of this grouping is preserved in the department of graphic arts of the Louvre museum in Paris.

Sylvain Kinsburger
Sylvain Kinsburger was a French neoclassical artist and sculptor, born in 1885. He was a student of Auguste Dumont and Gabriel-Jules Thomas, at the École des Beaux-Arts, in Paris, France. Sylvain exhibited a large figure entitled, Le Courtisan at the “Salon of 1911”. A large plaster of his dreaming sculpture, acquired by the “Salon of 1891”, was formerly at the town hall of Villefranche-sur-Saône.
