About the Item

A handsome French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze soldier on his horse. The statue rests on its original double column marble pedestal. The pedestal is raised by the thick green marble mottled rectangular base below the two turned marble columns with protruding bands. Above is the patinated bronze soldier proudly on top of his horse, on a cream colored marble base. The soldier is adorned in his armor and helmet seated upon his strutting horse. Very decorative with wonderful and rich details throughout. Bronze H: 24" L: 20" D: 9" Pedestal H: 40.5" L: 34" D: 12.25".

This wonderful statue is modeled after the statue of Louis XIV in the middle of the Place des Victoires, Paris. The statue is raised on a rectangular stepped Boulle pedestal with its Brass inlays atop a Tortoiseshell background within an ebony frame.
