About the Item

A sensational and monumentally scaled French mid 19th century white Carrara marble statue. The most impressive and statement making statue is raised by her original circular pedestal column which displays a fine mottled border. The high quality statue above is of an elegant lady draped in a wonderfully executed draped flowing garment tied over her shoulder with a ribbon and held in her left hand. She is standing barefoot next to a tree trunk which is decorated with a stunning array of richly sculpted flowers. She holds an intricately detailed luxuriant bouquet of beautiful blossoming flowers in her right hand with a lovely wreath wrapped around her other arm. Her hair is tied in an updo with a finely detailed blossoming rose wreath and she displays a wonderful and most charming expression on her face. Exceptionally museum quality and execution throughout. Base dimensions: H: 21.5" D: 22" Statue without base: H: 82.5".

An exquisite and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue on its original Vert de Patricia marble pedestal signed Prof. R. Romanelli Firenze. The impressive pedestal displays a fine octagonal base below an elegant socle shaped support and tapered circular central column with fluted designs below the mottled circular top with lovely wrap around foliate designs. The white Carrara marble statue above displays a wonderfully executed ground designed base with charming branches and leaves where the beautiful nude young Aphrodite is kneeling. She has a finely detailed flowing fabric draped over her leg and is clutching a bird at her chest protecting it from the serpent at her feet. She wears a richly sculpted floral wreath in her hair and displays exceptional attention to detail throughout.
