Gerhard Henning, 1880–1967
Preliminary study for a bronze sculpture, executed in plaster with original patina. The sculpture depicts a standing nude female figure with both hands resting on her hips. Over one arm she holds a draped cloth, and on the opposite wrist she wears a bracelet. She also wears a necklace.
Dated 1929, indistinctly signed.
The sculpture has remained in the same family to this day.
It was originally given as a gift in 1929 to the grandfather of the current owner, who was a close friend of Gerhard Henning.

About the Artist
Gerhard Henning (1880–1967) was a Danish-Swedish sculptor known for his classically inspired and often sensuous depictions of the female form. Working primarily in bronze and ceramics, he was associated with the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, where he created some of his most iconic works. Henning is considered one of the leading sculptors in Danish art history during the early 20th century.
