German Bishop in Carved and Polychromed Wood, 15th-16th Centuries An important carved and polychromed wooden sculpture representing a bishop, probably Saint Nicholas or another patron saint, made in German workshops between the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The figure, 63 cm tall, wears an alb and liturgical cope, and the characteristic tall mitre. It retains traces of original polychromy, with wear consistent with its age, which reinforce its authenticity and historical appeal. The simple yet solemn modeling of the face and the verticality of the whole link it to the Central European Late Gothic tradition, in transition to the Renaissance. A devotional piece of great rarity on the market, especially due to its state of preservation and dimensions. 62 cm height, 22 cm good condition for the age
