About the Item

For sale, Jake and Dinos Chapman's 'Hell Souvenir', a grotesque selection of 1:35 scale figures from the artist's purgatorial dioramas 'Hell', 'F*cking Hell', 'End of Fun' and 'The Sum of all Evil'. An open edition of hand-painted, resin metal figures made up of a unique combination of mutants, kaput nazis, impaled heads and skeletons. Released in 2022, consisting of 13 figures/objects and presented in their original, custom-made, "Hell Souvenir - Jake and Dinos Chapman" stamped box. Jake Dinos Chapman (British, 1966 and 1962): Young British Artists Jake and Dinos Chapman create iconoclastic sculptures, prints, and installations that examine contemporary politics, religion, and morality with searing wit. They first gained recognition with their first solo installation, We Are Artists (1992), in which they stencilled an anti-aesthetic manifesto onto a mud-splattered wall at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London. From their etchings of Goya-esque piles of body parts to naked child mannequins whose facial features are replaced with genitalia, the Chapman brothers explore the poles of beauty and pain, humour and horror, the sublime and perverse, the diabolical and the infantile, in ways that shock and confront viewers with their own voyeurism.
