About the Item

18th century Italian gold leaf angel head or "putto" adorned with baroque pearls. A putto is a cherub figure frequently appearing in both mythological and religious paintings and sculptural works, especially of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. This piece was once used as part of a decorative angelic depiction in a historic Italian church. The natural-forming baroque pearls adorn the neck of the putto, creating a necklace that perfectly coordinates with the gilded angel. Together, the putto with baroque pearls create a historically significant yet contemporary work of old and new.
